Sweet Dreams and Flying Machines...

I knew I liked the name of this company, but I could not pinpoint exactly why it seemed so familiar... until the other day when I was driving in my car singing loudly and not so beautifully to James Taylor's Fire and Rain. And there it was.
Sweet Dreams & Flying Machines..
Five zillion points for having ultra cool folky lyrics as a shop name.
I was hooked before I even TRIED anything.

Alison, the creator of this unique and hip company started out with a passion for all things fashion and design, until her little man was the picture. Though she was still interested in design, her ideas and passions quickly morphed from a world of fashion, to something that would allow her to spend as much time with her little man as possible. While feeding her babe one night, she came up with an idea. What better way to incorporate two passions in one?!
With the heart of a mother, and the eye of a designer, Sweet Dreams & Flying Machines was born.

A family based, Canadian company, run by Alison, with the help of her husband and mother, Sweet Dreams & Flying Machines provides a unique and beautiful line of sleep sacs and swaddles that you will absolutely fall in love with.

Sleep sacs are the safest way to keep your little one safe, snuggly and warm all night long.
With a sleep sac you never have to worry about the blankets bunching up around your baby's face, which is something that I am always worried about with my Pumpkin, especially in a room as chilly as ours.

We were able to try a dream sac from the new line (not even on the website yet!!!! Lucky ducks!!) called Mocking Bird.
Thank you so much Alison!

Before I even had a chance to pull it out of the envelope, I was blown away with the way it was packaged.

How awesome is that!?? Wouldn't that make the coolest gift?
ART.

I carefully unrolled it and fell in loooooove. For real.
I have never felt a more awesome sleep sac.
The outside of the Dream Sacs is an amazingly soft, stretchy nylon/spandex blend that is reminiscent of Lululemon pants. The liner, is made up of a micro fleece, whereas the thinner Dream Sacs have a Bamboo Cotton Stretch Jersey Liner. Both of which are luscious.
What a novel idea to create a sleep sac for your baby out of such fabrics.
Your child moves throughout the night, why cover him/her in a fabric that is heavy and will not move with them? My little wiggle worms appreciate the movement in this sleep sac.

Cupcake, my two year old, is constantly kicking her blankets off. She is a warm baby, always has been, that sweet little sweaty bean... However, she has also never been a great sleeper because she is constantly waking up through out the night due to her blankies being kicked to the floor. She likes the comfort of a blanket, but doesn't like to be covered by one. Dream Sacs can be unzipped at the bottom so older children can walk around freely before bed time. Though I do like the look of a toddler walking around in a big sleep sac... haha they look like little glow worms. So cute. If there ever was a toddler in need of a sleep sac, it's my little big girl!!

Why not cotton?
 As outlined here:
"Under  The Hazardous Products Act (HPA) in Canada you can not advertise, sell or import children's sleepwear that do not comply with the flammability requirements . Cotton in the case of sleep sacs would not pass these flammability tests,"

Sweet Dreams & Flying Machines has come up with an awesome alternative if you ask me, and SO cozy.

I love that the Dream Sacs have two sets of snaps at the shoulders and the armpits. One sleep sac will last your baby for many, many months SAFELY, just snap (bigger or smaller) for a perfect fit. Voila!

Dream Sacs can also be used safely as a thin blanket in any five point carseat as there is a convenient little flap to pull the seat belt through. No need to worry about big, bulky, winter coats or bunting bags that aren't allowed in car seats, all you need is your Dream Sac. I also like that the flap can be closed with Velcro when not in use, too so no gaping hole!

The detail on these sleep sacs really is amazing.
Each is a piece of art.
Pumpkin's Dream Sac (3-6months size), is part of the brand new line and is called Mockingbird.
Even the tag is beautiful.
I love the sayings on each sleep sac and swaddle.
They are all so romantic and beautiful.
I actually want to collect them all just so I can read them over and over again.
Is that lame??
The artist in me begs to differ, if it is.
I wanted to try out a size that would last for awhile, so although the 3-6month size IS quite big, I make sure the snaps are done up to the smallest  setting, for the best fit. In reality I probably should have gone with a Sweet Swaddle first. She has a toonnnnnn of room to grow, which will last us all Winter and Spring which makes me happy. I will cry when she outgrows this! haha

Sweet Dreams and Flying Machines Dream Sacs come in sizes:
 3-9 months
9-30 months
And in two different warmth levels:
1.For mild weather and warmer rooms (21°-23° C/ 69°-74° F)
2. For rooms that are 16°-20° C. (60°-68° F)

Our room gets so chilly at night (arg. to the previous homeowners who ruined our giant window in the master bedroom with their air conditioner - it does not close all the way), so pumpkin stays nice and toasty in her beautiful sleep sac all night long. Which is better than I can say about myself, because I am constantly out of my blankets feeding my babies. haha.

If your babe is more like my cupcake girl as a baby, and swaddling is more up his/her alley, Sweet Dreams and Flying Machines also make amazing swaddles.
The Sweet Swaddle.
And boy are they SWEET!

Cupcake literally was swaddled until she was eight months old... seriously. She was a giant baby burrito. I thought that she would be swaddled until she was one, which she probably would have been if she did not keep breaking out.
There is something so comforting about being tightly wrapped in coziness. Takes after her blanket lovin' mama I guess.
Swaddling helps soothe infants as it settles the startle reflex that often awakens them, resulting in more sleep for both of you! No startle reflex, no blankets being kicked over the head, no worries!

What I love about these swaddles, is that they are made of that same stretchy material as the sleep sacs, but also have snap openings for arms to go through when they no longer need to be completely swaddled. Such a great transition from swaddle to sleep sac. Your babe can slowly get used to arms out, while being snuggled in a tightly fitting sac. Best of both worlds really.

I love the retro look of these, too. Reminds me of an Adidas track suit, or my fave pair of Stan Smiths.

Totally needing the white and green. <3LOVE!

Like the Dream Sacs, the Sweet Swaddles have the same awesome carseat feature, and zippered bottom for quick and easy diaper changes.

Sweet Swaddles come in sizes:
0-3 months.
3-12 months.
