Sweet Kyla~ Wee Organics Review and Giveaway~ CLOSED

I love Sweet Kyla Bedding. This Canadian company makes the most gorgeous high quality crib sets. They also have a great line of organic bedding called Wee Organics. I was sent a beautiful Wee Organics 3 piece bedding set in brown and cream (bark/natural) for my daughter's nursery and I have been really happy with it. And as you can see from my babies goofy smile, she's pretty happy with her new crib set too.

The Wee Organics bedding set we received is amazingly soft. The bedding is made with 12 oz cotton interlock that is so cozy. Its much softer than traditional sheet sets, feeling more like a extra thick tee shirt. My daughter loves to snuggle up in her Sweet Kyla blanket.

I really like the mellow colors of the Wee Organics Line. My daughter's nursery is decorated Blue and Brown, so the brown and natural set compliments her room beautifully. She also sleeps with a brown toned quilt that looks great with this set. Sweet Kyla has a huge selection of designs and colors available, including an Organic Dew Drop Petal Set that is so pretty is Brown and Pink. The Wee Organics line also has swaddling blankets, change pad covers, and cradle sets.

I feel great about how safe the Wee Organics bedding is- both for the planet and for my baby. The organic cotton is SKAL certified and has been grown without any pesticides. Sweet Kyla also uses only non-toxic (azo free) low impact dyes for their Wee Organics line. These dyes are free of carcinogens and allergens and are environmentally friendly.
Sweet Kyla has been family owned and operated since 1978, and they take great pride in producing quality bedding sets. All of Sweet Kyla's fabric and bedding is made in Canada of the highest quality cotton. They strongly believe that you cant beat Canadian made quality; and as a mom who loves their products I cant agree more.

Sweet Kyla makes decorating babies nursery so easy. With each bedding set they offer, Sweet Kyla lists the complimenting furniture finishes that will look good with the set. They also have suggestions for paint colors for each set. So all you have to do is pick your favorite Sweet Kyla crib set and decorate the nursery around it- brilliant.

Bummis Cloth Diaper Package Review and Giveaway ***CLOSED***

I was recently sent a package of Bummis diapering products to try out and review. Everything I received has been great and I'm excited to be able share my experiences with the products as well as offer a great giveaway. The very generous people at Bummis have offered one of my readers a chance to win EVERYTHING mentioned below.

Bummis is a Canadian company that makes high quality diapering products. I really love how everything from Bummis is made in Canada, the US, or Europe. This makes me feel good about how the employees are treated, their environmental practices, as well as the quality and safety of their products.

Here is what I had the opportunity to try:

Super Whisper Wrap Diaper Cover- I received the flower design, and it is so pretty and bright. Not only does it look good, but it is also amazing at keeping in leaks. We have been using it all week, and haven't had a single leak. Even though the material is leak proof, it is very soft and breathable. As its name suggests this cover is super quiet and doesn't crinkle. I also love that this diaper is made in Montreal, with safe and fair working conditions. I would completely recommend the Whisper Wrap cover to everyone, we love ours and will be using it often.
A Bamboozle Diaper- I LOVE my Bamboozle Diaper. It is made from bamboo terry cloth that is so soft, fuzzy, and cozy. This Diaper is also super absorbent. According to Bummis, Bamboo is 70% more absorbent that cotton. I have to say I completely believe it. I had no leaks while using this diaper, and it really soaks up the moisture well. I also love how easy this diaper is to use. It has snaps, which make changing and size adjusting a breeze.
The bamboozle comes in two sizes. The size 2 that I tested fit my 16 month old perfectly (she even has room to grow which is nice). The Bamboozle diaper is made in the UK and has passed very strict European standards to ensure its non-toxicity. As mentioned the bamboozle is also made with bamboo, which is an eco friendly fibre that can be grown quickly and without the use of pesticides. Fabulous Wet Bag-The Bummis wet bag is so pretty and it works wonderfully. The bag is completely water and odor proof, so it makes cloth diapering on the go much less messy and smelly. The snappable handle is very convenient and the bag is small enough to toss in your stroller or diaper bag. This is actually my first wet bag, and I've found it so useful (and also way prettier and more green than the old plastic bag i was using). These bags are made in Montreal, under fair working conditions. Fleece Liners- The Bummis re-usable diaper liners are great at wicking away wetness, and keeping babies bums dry. I found they worked especially well for night diapering, when I didnt want my baby to wake-up from wet. The liners are also super soft, and felt great against my babies skin. The liners are easy to wash, and are lightweight yet durable. Bummis fleece liners are very safe too, and guaranteed to be lead, phthalate and BPA free. Another great thing about these liners- they are made in Canada from 100% recycled Repreve polyester yarn.
Bio-soft Liners- These liners are very convenient, and we found they worked really well. They make cloth diapering much less messy, and are completely flush-able and biodegradable. I especially recommend them for young babies who have so many BM's. My husband especially loves these liners, since he hates the toilet swishing part of cloth diapers. The liners are made with a natural fiber rayon in England.

Bummis is a green and ethical mom-ran business, started by three Canadian moms way back in the 80's. Since then the company has grown a lot, but they still remain committed to great safe products, environmentally friendly practices and are dedicated to fair working conditions. Everything that I received came packaged in 100% post consumer recycled material that was made without the use of chlorine. Bummis also gives back to the community; supporting many non-profit organizations. They also have a cloth diapering program where they offer free cloth diapers to low income families. Bummis is a company that I feel great getting behind.

I completely recommend everything that I tried from Bummis. Their products are all amazingly made and work great. Bummis has received numerous awards and has come highly recommended to me by several friends- and now i know why.

Where to Buy: Bummis Diapers and Supplies are widely available. For a complete list of retailers check out the Find A Retailer section of the Bummis site.

The Giveaway: I'm thrilled to able to offer you ALL the great products that I tried out for this giveaway (thanks to Bummis). So the winner will receive a Bummis Wetbag, Bamboozle Diaper, Whisper Diaper Cover of your choice, a pack of re-usable fleece liners, and a roll of bio-soft liners.

Go Waggaloo~ a Listen, a Review, and a Giveaway- CLOSED

I am thrilled to be able to introduce my readers to a brand new children's folk CD by Sara Lee Guthrie and family- Go Waggaloo. The CD will be in stores October 27th, but is available for pre-order through Smithsonian Folkways right now.

We have been listening to this CD for the last couple weeks- and LOVE it. Sara Lee Guthrie has a gorgeous voice and the songs are amazingly written. The album mixes tradition folk with some new sounds and also has a bit of a country feel. I'm a huge fan of folk music, and I really enjoyed this album. Go Waggaloo also has a very down-home feel. Listening to this album honestly makes me feel like i am singing songs in my moms kitchen with old friends and family- which is a rare and precious find in a children's album. My favorite song is the title track Go Waggaloo which was written by Woody Guthrie (who I love). Its a fun, folky, gets stuck in your head for days -kind of song. My girls love to Dance around the house and sing along to it. I also really love the song Don't I Fit In My Daddy's Shoes. Its a very sweet lyrical song that really highlights how lovely Sarah's voice is. The rest of the songs are also amazing, and I'm sure you will find your own favorites.
This CD is a collaboration of the whole Guthrie Family-celebrating the long tradition of folk music. Woody Guthrie (Sarah's grandfather) is pretty much the King of folk and is a musical genius. Several of the songs on Go Waggaloo are previously unrecorded Woody Guthrie Songs. Woody also created the image used on the album cover. Sarah's Father, Arlo Guthrie, is also an amazing musician and is featured on this Album. I love how Sarah Lee and her husband have continued to pass down this tradition of great music, and have included their two young daughters on most of the recordings. The album also features many extended family members and friends, such as Pete Seeger. Go Waggaloo has a very sweet and honest feel that i think can be attributed to making an album that is so family centered. I know my family loves this album and I'm sure yours will too.
Smithsonian Folkways (who has released Go Waggaloo) is a non-profit record label, dedicated to supporting cultural diversity, education, and understanding through music. Their mission is to document the "peoples music" from around the world and preserve the music for everyone's enjoyment. I first discovered Smithsonian Folkways when i was searching for children's music by the amazing Elizabeth Mitchell, and I have loved their site ever since. Folkways has over 200 children's records under their label- I could spend hours discovering new music for me and my family to enjoy.

I would recommend this Album for everyone- young and old. As Sarah Lee's husband Johnny Irion Says this is "A family CD that doesn't make you want to jump out of the mini-van". I totally Agree! So many Kids Albums are painful to listen to, especially on long car rides. Go Waggaloo really is an album that I love as much as my kids do and it will be listed to by my family for years to come.

Free Download and Listen: Smithsonian Folkways is currently offering a free download of one song from the album ~ Cuz Were Cousins. You can also have a listen to the other songs from Go Waggaloo, Smithsonian Folkways offers sound bites of every song on the album. Sarah Lee Guthrie and Johnny Irion can also be found on YouTube discussing this album and previewing many of the songs- check it out here.

Buy your own CD: This CD is currently only available through Smithsonian Folkways. The first 100 pre-orders will receive an autographed CD (very cool). You can also purchase the CD to download. Smithsonian Folkways is also offering a CD and Go Waggaloo T-shirt package at a discounted rate.

The Giveaway:
The wonderful folks at Smithsonian Folkways have offered to give away a copy of Go Waggaloo to one of my readers.

EDUN Clothing Review and Giveaway- TWO winners

EDUN is one of my favorite clothing companies and I am so excited to be able to share it with you and offer a giveaway of TWO of their organic kids tees.

EDUN not only sells fairly traded and organic clothing, but they also built stronger communities and a better world. How many companies can say that? EDUN works extensively with different humanitarian and environmental groups (such as ONE, Oxfam, Wildlife Conservation Society, and Organic Exchange) to work for a better world. I feel great supporting a socially conscious company like EDUN.

EDUN was launched in spring 2005, by Ali Hewson and Bono (yes the super awesome rocker). EDUN was born out of the desire to create a business that sells beautiful clothing, while building strong communities in developing countries- to move away from aid and towards fair trade. EDUN Fosters sustainable employment in developing economies, particularly sub-Saharan Africa. They also employ the "grow to sew" philosophy, ensuring that every step of the process - from planting all the way to a finished garment takes place in Africa. This leads to a strong long-term apparel industry that is wonderful for the health of a community. They also encourage organic farming in Africa, helping our planet while providing healthier working conditions. Buying clothing from EDUN is truly ethical consumerism at its best.

Now that you know so much about this wonderful company- lets talk review :) The very generous people at EDUN sent me a gorgeous Jane Dress to review. The dress is 100% silk and fairly traded. I really love how stylish this dress is, the criss cross neck is so unusual and pretty. The cut is also very flattering to my body and fits nicely in the bust- unlike many dresses i try on. I also love the gorgeous flower embroidery, it looks hand done.

The quality of this garment is wonderful and I love how soft and luxurious this dress feels. The Jane Dress is honestly the most comfortable dress I own. Its so soft and flowing that it almost feels like I'm wearing nothing at all (in a good way). I have worn mine with boots and leggings, but it would also look great with skinny jeans, or bare legs and heals. This dress is very versatile, and I plan on wearing it a lot this holiday season.

EDUN has a huge selection of beautiful and functional clothing on their site. The newest collection Snows Of Kilimanjaro is my favorite, and has many gorgeous pieces perfect for fall and winter. I also really love all of the graphic tees by EDUN. They are simple, organic, and lovely. I'm a t-shirt kind of girl, so I am planning on ordering a couple for myself (with my Christmas money). I am also obsessing over the lovely Splendid City Organic Baby Blanket- its so sweet!
EDUN also has a line of children's graphic tees. These Tees are made under fair working conditions in Kenya with 100% Organic cotton. The tees are also super soft and very well made. They look great on girls or boys, and will turn your child into one hip kid.

The Giveaway:
EDUN has very generously provided two organic children's tees for this giveaway- so there will be TWO winners! The tees are both made in Kenya of high quality organic cotton. The T-shirt choices are as follows:
1. Dragonfly Wings Tee size 6
2. Arch Angel Tee size 8

To Enter:
Visit EDUN and shop around, then comment below telling me what else you love from EDUN online. Also please let me know which shirt you would like to win (from the two choices above). This entry is mandatory and must be done before additional entries can count.

Beba Bean Review, Discount, and Giveaway~ CLOSED

The lovely people at Beba Bean sent me the cutest Knit Poncho and Ballerina Sweater socx to try out on my baby girl, and we love them. They have immediately became a staple in my daughters wardrobe. Both are well made, machine washable, and 100% cotton.

The Knit Poncho is easy to toss on and it goes with everything! It looks so pretty and stylish with jeans, and is also perfect over a dress or light sweater. I am also really impressed by the quality and beauty of the knitting. I have already had several people ask me if the poncho is hand-made. I tried out the poncho in ivory, but it also comes in a light pink.

The Ballerina Sweater Socx we received are so adorable and stylish with the ruffled tops. They look wonderful with leggings, skirts and tights, and with jeans. They are thoughtfully made too with a little tie-up at the top that allows you to adjust the size of the socx so they never slip down. The bottom of the socx are lined with leather, making them great for short walks or running around at indoor play areas. Beba Bean has several different styles of socx available, including socx for boys.

The poncho and the socx are both so cozy and warm, making them perfect for fall and winter. They have been keeping my baby girl toasty warm now that the weather here is turning cold. I love dressing her in them for long walks in the stroller or the baby carrier. The socx are especially great at keeping her pants from riding up in the baby carrier and exposing her legs to the cold.

Beba Bean is a mom ran company that was born out of the invention of the Pee-pee Teepee. I've seen Pee-pee teepee's in stores here and they are the cleverest idea. They are little tents that go over baby boy parts to stop them from peeing while being changed. I know anyone with a baby boy can really appreciate how cool this is! Beba Bean has since branched out and now has a great selection of high quality cotton knit and bamboo baby clothing. They also make lovely bamboo blankets, and amazingly cute shoes.

To buy any of the lovely items mentioned in this review, you can shop online at Beba Bean or click here to find a store near you.

The discount: Beba Bean is offering a 10% discount to Natural Mama readers. To get your discount simple enter the code (NMR10/02/09) at the time of check out.

Sweet Pea Diaper Review

I was recently sent a Sweet Pea Diaper to try out and review, and It is quickly becoming a favorite in my cloth diaper stash. Its the first AIO (all in one) diaper I have tried and it is so easy and convenient. I love not having to mess with a cover. If your in the market for cloth diapers I highly recommend these diapers.

Can i just say- I LOVE SNAPS! They are so easy to use. My baby girl loves to squirm during changes, but i was able to get these diapers snapped up very quickly and easily. The snaps also prevent my little Houdini from undoing her diaper, and running around the house naked (her latest trick). The snaps are great for getting a great lasting fit- these diapers will fit your baby wonderfully from birth to potty training.

This is the first Diaper i have tried with PUL (polyurethane laminated) waterproof liner and I'm really happy with how well it keeps pee in and clothes and bedding dry. The PUL is soft, move-able, and doesn't crinkle (make noise). PUL can also withstand frequent high temperatures, so it is great through hundreds of washes. I really liked how well Sweet Pea Diapers wash up and dried quickly.

The inside of the diaper is made 100% high quality polyester fleece. This ultra soft fabric touches is cozy on babies skin and pulls away moisture. This diaper really kept my baby dry- which prevents diaper rash and discomfort.

My Sweet Pea Diaper came with two super soft and absorbent liners, that work great. They are also a pretty universal size, so i can use them with my other diapers too. The liners are made with three layers of microfiber and are super absorbent.
On a more superficial front, I really like the look of these diapers. Sweet Pea diapers come in so many fun and bright colors. I tried out the hot pink, and its so fun. I also like that this diaper is fairly slim, it fit easily under babies pants.

In today's economy families need to save money wherever possible. I love that Sweet Pea Diapers are less expensive than many cloth diapers. They retail for $15.95 Canadian, that's anywhere from 3-10 $ cheaper than comparable AIO pocket diapers. The fact that these diapers are a one size, and will last from birth to potty training will also be a huge money saver.

New to cloth diapering? The Sweet Pea web page has a very informative Getting Started section on how to use and care for your diapers.

Momzelle Nursing Top Review and Giveaway-CLOSED

I am so excited to be able to review and offer a giveaway for a Momzelle Nursing Top. The very nice people at Momzelle sent me the warm v-neck nursing top (pictured above) to review, and I love it. I am really kicking myself for not discovering these tops sooner. They make breastfeeding so much more convenient and discreet. They are also super cute!

Momzelle Nursing tops are stylish, pretty and are made to fit the post baby body. The tops have extra room in the chest and a long fit (that covered my lingering baby belly perfectly). Momzelle tops are also made with a super-soft organic cotton/spandex blend that is very comfortable and figure flattering. Momzelle was started by a breastfeeding mom who began making tops for herself after her baby was born. She designs lovely tops that make nursing in public more convenient and discreet. While i was nursing in my Momzelle top- it really didnt even look like i was nursing. This top really makes me feel comfortable nursing anywhere.

Momzelle tops are designed with an opening just under the bust-line that makes breastfeeding so easy. The tops do not bunch up and get in the way of breastfeeding like my other tops. I also didnt have to struggle with a receiving blanket to cover my chest and belly- which always looks so awkward. I am totally hooked on these tops!Momzelle Tops are also wonderful for baby-wearing mama's. My top allowed me to easily breastfeed while my baby was in the carrier. Traditional shirts make this very difficult, but with my Momzelle I just lifted the opening and nursed baby (no adjusting the carrier or struggling with lifting my top).

I love how supportive and helpful Momzelle is to breastfeeding moms. Its great when companies support breastfeeding, so i was so thrilled to see that the Momzelle web page has a section dedicated to offering breastfeeding support to moms who are struggling.

I recommend Momzelle nursing tops to all breastfeeding or pregnant moms, I wear mine all the time and love it.

More things I love about Momzelle:
-Amazing customer service
-Great quality, these tops really wash nicely and will last a long time
-Momzelle works with all types of nursing bras
-Momzelle is Made in Canada!
-Momzelle nursing tops have a universal opening, which means they fit every breast size.
-The tops are all made with Organic cotton

Buy your own Momzelle Top here
