After a few false starts i am going back to using cloth diapers exclusively. Why? There are so many reasons, but the three that i have based my decision on are:
1.
Cost- The average baby goes through 6-8 thousand diapers before they are toilet trained at the estimated cost of 2-3 thousand dollars. Yikes. Cloth diapers on the other hand will only cost you about 6-8 hundred dollars, even less if you have more kids and pass them on.
2.
The Environment- I try to do my part to reduce waste, and disposable diapers sure pile up in our landfills. The 6-8 thousand diapers that baby uses take 300-500 years to decompose.
3.
Babies Health- diapers are full of toxic chemicals such as chlorine, dioxins, tributyltin, and sodium polyacrylate. There is also ongoing studies that have shown diapers emit airborne irritants that cause respiratory problems. It really freaks me out to think that i am exposing my baby to these things.
So now that i have made the decision to switch i have been scouring the web looking for the best Canadian made cloth diapers that i could find. I came across
The Super Duper Diaper web page, and i am so happy to be able to share my experience with these great diapers.

Let me just start by saying Malou, the owner of Super Duper Diapers, is just the sweetest. She is a cloth diapering mom herself and is a wealth of knowledge. Anyone who has the pleasure of buying products from her will have amazing customer service. She is available to answer any cloth diapering questions you may have and is very helpful.
I tested the
MAGIK Diaper in Bamboo as well as the nylon diaper cover with snaps, and the biodegradable and flush able liners.
The diapers: These diapers are amazingly soft and so comfortable. The bamboo has a lot of stretch, so they do not limit babies movement like many diapers. They also just feel so natural. My daughter just loves them!!
The bamboo Magik diapers are very absorbent, about twice as absorbent as the cotton diapers i have. We haven't had one leak since we began using the diaper. The bamboo is also naturally antibacterial and wicks the moisture away from babies skin. In my opinion once you've used a bamboo diaper its very hard to go back to anything else.
I also loved that the Magik Diapers will last the duration of your babies time in diapers. They are adjustable- and fit babies from 8-32 pounds. This is such a huge money saver!
The diaper cover- The 100% nylon diaper cover that we received from Super Duper Diapers is great. Its soft, moves well with baby, stops leaks, and doesn't hold any moisture. It also has adjustable snaps- so like the diaper it grows with your baby.
The liners- I love the Biodegradable and flush-able diaper liners that are available at Super Duper Diapers. They make cloth diapering a thousand times less messy. Instead of having to rinse or scrape the diaper into the toilet, you simply dump the liner and the BM in the toilet and flush the mess away- Super duper easy :)

Another great thing about these diapers is that they are made in Canada. I try to buy Canadian made (or US made) whenever possible. I just feel that products made in Canada and the US are so much more safe than products manufactured in many other parts of the world. Buying products close to home also helps out the earth, since less transportation equals less greenhouse gases being pumped into our air.
Where to buy:Buy these wonderful Diapers, The Hazel wood teething necklaces, and many other great products for moms at
Super Duper Diapers.
I would recommend a Super Duper
kit to anyone who is ready to make the change to cloth diapers. They contain everything you will need to get started, and enough diapers to last the duration of your babies time in diapers. Super Duper Diapers also has great trial kits, in case your thinking about cloth but still unsure if it will work for you and what kind of diapers you like.
The Giveaway:
The wonderful Malou at Super Duper Diapers have generously offered to sponsor a giveaway for a
lovely hazel wood teething necklace. You can choose from a blue or a pink necklace pictured below.

I've personally been dying to try a hazel wood necklace out on my baby girl. These lovely necklaces are made from the wood of Canadian Hazel trees, which is known for its amazing medical properties. The wooden beads absorb and neutralize the bodies acidity treating any problems that are related to PH imbalance. They help babies and children with teething pain, skin rashes, reflux, stomach upset, and excessive drooling. They also are just so adorable.
Super Duper Diapers also carries hazel wood necklaces, bracelets, and watches for adults.
