Traveling with Baby Review

I'm leaving tomorrow for a two week road trip to see grandpa with just me and the girls. My husband is working so he cant join us. My youngest just turned one and is not a fan of the car, so I'm a little freaked out. She also doesn't really like toys, so she isn't amused by playing while we drive. I've been trying out some products to help ease the stress of travel with baby.

here's how i plan to save my sanity:

Snacks- lots of snacks.
Baby loves to munch. She loves fruit and home-made goodies best, but for the road i buy pre-made snacks. Here are her current faves:

Her fave sippy cup:
We've tried out a few, and her favorite so far is the safe sippy. Its easy to hold, made with high grade stainless steal, has a trusty non-spill top, and is so easy for baby to hold on her own.

A Snack trap
I've heard a few on my mom friends talk about how great it it, so i went out and bought one.The snack trap is a small handled cup, with a soft slatted lid that is the perfect size for toddle hands to squeeze through.
Baby loves to munch on long drives, but she is so messy. The snack trap allows me to give her munchies anywhere, without her spilling them. It is especially good at keeping her occupied in the car because its a bit of a challenge for baby to get the food out.
The snack trap is made with babies safety in mind too, the plastic used is Bisphenol A-Free, PVC-Free, Phthalate-Free, and Latex-Free.

where to buy: in Canada
in the US

And A Full ipod
Some recent kid downloads from I-tunes that I'm loving are all of the children's Putumayo albums, B is for Bob the new Bob Marley kids CD, and as mentioned Elizabeth Mitchell and Kimya Dawson.

Anyone have any tips or treasures that they find a necessity on a long drive with a baby? I'd love to hear about it :)

Elizabeth Mitchell- You Are My Little Bird CD Review

Is it possible to be completely in love with a CD? If so I am head over heals for Elizabeth Mitchell's CD You Are My Little Bird. It was recommended to me by several online friends so i finally got it a couple weeks ago, and i am so glad i did.

I would describe this CD as folk at its best; sweet, timeless, singable songs that are sure to become family favorites. Elizabeth Mitchell's voice is so lovely, while at the same time easy to sing along with.

The Songs are mostly renditions of old folk songs, with some Bob Marley and Velvet Underground covers thrown in for good measure. My favorite songs are Little Liza Jane; A folk song as old as the hills adapted by Elizabeth Mitchell to incorporate friends and places that have meaning to her and Who's My Pretty Baby; This song was written by the great Woody Guthrie, and is so fun to sing to my baby girl.

In keeping with folk music tradition me and my girls have already started to make these songs our own by adding names and places that are special to us. The songs are already weaving their way into our lives and becoming part of the soundtrack of our family- a rare and wonderful occurrence.

I would recommend this CD to EVERYONE- seriously go out and buy this right now. Its that good. My 1 year old baby loves it, my 7 year old loves it, my 11 year old loves it, and I love it.

Where to buy this CD:

You can buy or download this CD directly from the records label Folkways. You can also listen to short clips of all the songs on the Folkways site.

The CD can also be found on Chapters/Indigo online and throughout Canada at Chapters Stores.
